just before bed
The official site for Jackie Chan’s latest, “Highbinders”, is now up. Unfortunately, it’s just the front page, but more should be coming soon. For more info, head over to Monkeypeaches.
I’m not sure what I think about this one. The Faint are opening for No Doubt on their U.S. tour. Check out the Saddle Creek site for details. I’m not going to cry “sell out”, because it’s a great opportunity for a great band… but No Doubt?!?
Over the past 24 hours, Lincoln has been blanketed with snow. I drove in to work with the snow floating down, listening to Slowdive, thinking about someone yet again… and for some reason, the whole setting spoke of new beginnings and fresh starts. Sometimes brooding does have its upside.
Birthday celebrations and updates are coming up. Break out the decorations.

Woohoo… new Do Make Say Think album scheduled for March 25.
“High Schooler Defends Against Non-Existent Drug Law”—I don’t know what I feel more… disgust at the way our judicial system handled this, or respect at the fact that the kid was able to use the Internet to build a better defense than his lawyer did.
Is it just me, or are Pitchfork’s pokes at David Bazan’s Christianity getting increasingly tiresome?
Yesterday, Apple announced their dual 1GHz Power Macs. Man, what I wouldn’t give for a couple of those babies. Okay, so maybe I don’t need to do any complex Tokamak simulations or delve into particle physics, but it’d still be pretty cool.
As if releasing a super-cool flatscreen iMac wasn’t enough, Apple just announced the dual 1-GHz G4 Power Macs.
There’s a new version of iCab available. If you’re a Mac user, I highly recommend checking it out. It’s small, fast, very standards-compliant, and it lets you block out banner ads. That alone makes it worth a download.
You know you wanted it… the history of Christian music, in cartoon form. Some pretty good (and very funny) observations, but also some very broad generalizations. True, it does feel like much of rock’s rebellious elements are missing from Christian music. However, you could make a strong case that it’s missing from most so-called “rock n’ roll” these days. It may be that “Christian rock” is no more an oxymoron than “rock n’ roll” is in and of itself.
Besides, I wonder what he’d think of SS Bountyhunter (you really should buy their albums, you know).
On another note, having a more “laid-back, individualistic” view of Christianity and adhering to the same “rigid” doctrine that more “traditional” Christians preach is not necessarily mutually exclusive. I guess it all depends on how you define those sorts of things.
It’s after 3:00am… I really should leave the office.

Opus is a website masquerading as a blog masquerading as a webzine. It’s where I (Jason Morehead) write about music, movies, art, web design, religion and whatever else interests me at the time (Read More).
