“Tron: Legacy” gets “Derezzed” by Daft Punk

Let’s be perfectly honest here: Tron: Legacy does look pretty cool, but it’s the fact that Daft Punk is doing the soundtrack that makes it epic. And we can see why in this music video promo, which features Daft Punk’s “Derezzed” accompanying footage from the film, some of which I believe is new. And yes, those DJs in the clip wearing the cool helmets are indeed Messieurs Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter.

The song itself is killer, but I wish they’d have done a better job of incorporating the actor’s voices and film sound effects into the song. They did a decent job of syncing the timing of the video to the song, but the it sounds like all they did was lay two audio tracks on top of each other and call it a day. I mean if you’re using this clip as a way of touting Daft Punk doing the soundtrack they fell short.

Maybe they should’ve called KMFDM in to show them how it’s done! Mortal Kombat FTW!

That said, this movie looks like the shiznit. I re-watched Tron over the summer for the first time in 20 years, and now I can’t wait to see Legacy.
